My daughter and I were so happy to find shorts of this length! Other than bike shorts, most girls' shorts are barely long enough to cover her butt, and the inseam doesn't seem to increase with bigger sizes. As an 11yo, she finds this medium length much more comfortable. The stripes are also super-cu...te. We'd love to see more shorts like this at Old Navy. Size-wise, the cut is wider. Loose fitting pants and shorts are a popular trend for preteens and teens right now, but I'd still suggest getting a size smaller than usual.
My child has a small waist and long legs. I always have to buy for her length and therefor gravitate towards shorts, pants, & skirts with adjustable waists. I was excited when the description of these shorts stated functioning drawstring but disappointed on arrival when the drawstring was only able ...to tie but not make the pants tighter to suit the waist of my child. I think the description of these shorts should be revisited as it's completely misleading as it stands now. Not looking forward to trying to execute an exchange for the sale price I initially purchased them for.
