The material is pretty thick. It's a bit too heavy to really be a sure. It's not quite thick enough to be a jacket. Definitely a good layering piece for late spring or early fall.
Descriptions say it hit at the hips, this one hit almost at the upper thigh and I'm not that short (5'8). Btw, I purchased a size (S) small
