These are my go-to shorts for summer and fit really nicely. I'm 5'4 and 120lbs and the S is roomy and comfortable. Not too short or baggy but not too tight. The waist is super comfortable and stretchy. I will take a star off because last summer these shorts had two pockets on the back (which was gre...at as a mom to stash my phone or keys while toting kids around) but they don't have back pockets this year. They still have full, useful side pockets but the look is different without the back pockets. Still my favorite shorts though!
I usually love Old Navy's linen shorts and I will buy several pairs each year, but this year's fit is terrible. I ordered both a small and medium, as I sometimes wear either size, and the fit is off. The front seems like its actually the back (I even checked the tag as I thought I had them on backwa...rds). Both sizes have issues with the waist and pockets, making them look awkward. For reference, I am 5'11" and weigh 165 lbs, and I have a straight body build.
