Contrary to many of the photos included in the reviews, my tanks (bought in black, cashmere blue, and bronzed amber), sit just below my belly button, at my natural waist (I'm 5'5"). The "straps" are wider and the material is generally thick. The cashmere blue does not wear well and is a bit see-thro...ugh. I haven't had any issues with the black or the bronzed amber which is like a deep orange fall leaf color. These tank tops have been easy to through on and wear as the main top, or under items. They are true to size, so go with what you typically wear. If you're between - the smaller size may be a little shorter and more fitted; so personally, I would recommend going up one size if you're debating.
