These shorts fit the bill! I've always felt that 3"-5" were just too short and bermudas at 9" were a tad too long - the 7" are the Goldilocks of denim short inseams in my opinion! They're comfy and don't ride up as many others have also mentioned. I'm usually a 6 curvy or 8 regular in ON jeans but d...ecided to order 10 in these so they'd be a little baggy and they actually aren't as baggy as I had anticipated but still love them regardless!
I bought these shorts in a blue denim and the black denim in size 16. The blue denim are so cute and fit just right! They're even cut to the length described. The black denim however are completely different!! The inseam is NOT 7 inches as described and they fit waaaay tighter. I could barely do the...m up. If you buy the black denim, size up. I'm quite annoyed because I was looking forward to the black denim the most and also why aren't they the same as the blue??? It's so confusing. I had to double check they are the same short.

I love the fit and length of these shorts. This is a very flattering length for my legs. I'm 5'5' 135 with short athletic legs and long torso. I got two pair in different shades of blue ,and the fringe has a seam to stop it from unraveling after each wash. They took a while to get to me but so worth the wait, not old navy's fault. I'm very happy with my purchase
