Very flattering cut. I'm short at 5'2" and it *does* ride a little high ("extra high-waisted") but I love the way it smoothes and flatters your behind. The front pleats look classy but do note that it's layered fabric so the front isn't as slimming. The petite still ran a little long for me by about... an inch (even with 2-3" heels) but it's not so bad that I think I'll hem them honestly, they'll just be extra drape-y. I'm a 25w and the size 0 fit perfectly so I would say true to size, and if anything it can offer some compression (because I know Old Navy's size 0 denim runs too big for me, so this may fit tighter if you're used to that sizing).
I love these from just below the waistband and down…nice weight and drape. Pleats lay flat. I like the slightly longer length in a baggy trouser. I'm 5'5" hourglass and regular length pooled slightly with sneakers (just the way I like). I hate the tab waist though. My usual size was a tiny bit tight... in the waist and the tab pulled. Tried the next size up and the tab still pulled, even though they were at least an inch too big in the waist (and no belt loops to make the larger size work with a belt). You can clearly see on the models the tab is pulling and doesn't lay flat. I really wish these had a conventional waist band with a button and belt loops…they'd be 5 stars if so!
