Back in the spring, ON released a crew-neck seaside-cotton button-up cardi. I loved it so much that I bought it in stone and black, and I'm still kicking myself for not buying every other color while they were stocked in my size (the price tag was just too steep to rationalize). So, when I saw thi...s re-release in navy blue, I was stoked! Turns out, on me this newer model is shapeless, regardless of how I try to style it. Its waistband hangs loosely, it's more cropped than its predecessor (see my side-by-side pic with the first model on the left and this re-release on the right), and it has a drop shoulder and almost dolman-style sleeve, all of which add up to a boxy, cheaper-looking drape. This newer model does beat the older one in the thickness of its weave; the predecessor has proven to be very snag-prone, but this newer version feels heftier yet still breathable for nighttime summer/fall weather. I tried on both a medium and small, and for me, the medium (my usual size; I am 5'6, 145 lbs, 36C) fits the most appropriately. So I'd say it runs true to size. I was able to combine a site-wide discount with some ON rewards dollars so I scored it for a clearance-caliber price; for that reason I'll keep it. But if I could give it 3.5 stars, that would be my true rating. If you're like me and loved the previous model, be prepared for some differences!
