For reference, I am 5' & 130 lbs., so maxi skirts can swallow me whole, but I took a chance, and ordered the navy skirt (petite small. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it on because it hung close to the body so it didn't overwhelm my frame. I love the slight sheer bottom and lace detail, but ...mostly I love that it looks casual with a tee and flip flops and dressy with a blouse and heels. I am so glad I took another chance with a maxi skirt!
I am usually a size XS or S in old navy at 5'6, 125 lb. I tried both in this skirt and found the waist tiny. It is elastic, so still wearable but not comfortable. I compared the skirt to another elastic waist maxi skirt and the size small in this has a waist a solid 2-3 inches smaller than my other ...size small skirt. Very strange. The details on the skirt were pretty but I'm not sure yet if I want to try to medium.
