I bought the matching long sleeve shirt to wear with these shorts. The shorts are a bit shorter than expected. But I'll still wear it. I purchased my normal size in these shorts which is a medium. It fits perfectly. The waist for me is a tad bit snug but not tight. But I think I can loosen it up by ...stretching it out on something on a day or so. I know for sure the large would have been too big. It's really cute with the whole set. It can be casual with sandals or you can wear it either way heels or even sneakers. I plan on wearing the set to a graduation with some short block heels. For reference, I'm 5'2, 140lbs. Curvy bottom, thick thighs. The long sleeve matching shirt, I got that in a small petite and it was perfect. Not tight or loose. And my chest is 34DDD.
To short, maybe size up.

It hI don't really wear shorts. Has something to do with my 53-year-old varicose vein, filled legs. These, however, have a flattering fit, and are super cute and comfortable. I got one in each of the colors they offer along with several other options of this crinkle gauze series.
